The Archconfraternity & the Holy Face

These devotional crosses are the original design of the Archconfraternity in Tours, France. In the Archconfraternity Manual, it states: “The Archconfraternity is an army. The cross as it has been described is its standard, let us wear it with confidence: it will help us to conquer our enemies and to repair our losses.”

Design and Symbolism

The front features Jesus as on the Veil of Veronica. Above the Cross is “I.N.R.I.” — Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews. On the arms of the cross are “Tours” and 1876. On the body of the cross is “Vade Retro Satana” — Get thee behind me, Satan. On the second cross, or on the back side of the two-sided cross, is the Monogram of Christ “IHS”; above that is the word “Reparation” and below is “Pie IX 1847.” On the head, arms, and body are the words “Sit Nomen Domini Benedictum,” which means “May the name of the Lord be Blessed.” The overall cross is a French Lorraine style cross.

Dimensions and Craftsmanship

Available in bronze and silver, the cross measures approximately 1.8 x 1.12” (4.5 x 2.8 cm). It comes with a jump ring attached so that it can be placed on a chain, cord, or on a scapular. You can choose to order with a chain of 24” or 18”. Gold crosses are available upon special order.

A Cross for Reparation & Protection

Wear this cross as a sign of your commitment as a member of the Archconfraternity of Tours and your devotion to the Holy Face of our Lord and Savior. Ostend Faciem Tuum et Salve Erimus. Oh Lord, show us Thy Face and we shall be saved.
